The Run 4 Grant Tradition Continues

Walkers and runners flooded Blue Avenue today for 4th the annual run for grant 5k.

Over 200 people ran in memory of the Grant Hickman who was 14 when he died suddenly in 2011. His mother, Beth Hickman said that today is even more special than past years.

"Today’s his graduation day. He’s going to… should have been graduating today," said Hickman.

Hickman said Grant looked forward to his first year at Zanesville High School. Beth said that the run began four years ago when she simply decided she never wanted people to forget her beloved son.

"Grant ran everywhere," said Hickman. "Everywhere he went he would run and I was telling one of my friends that I didn’t want people to forget grant and she goes ‘well let’s just have a little run’ well the little run was immense. It wa just huge, so we’ve just continued it," said Hickman.

The Grant Hickman Foundation raises money for scholarships awarded to high school seniors and it has given approximately $39,000 to date.
