The Salvation Army Opens Emergency Shelter

The Salvation Army Opens Emergency ShelterZANESVILLE, Ohio- With the frigid temperatures heading our way, The Salvation Army is opening it’s doors to help people get out of the cold.

The Salvation Army is home to a 35 bed emergency shelter which includes 2 family rooms, a women’s dorm, and a men’s dorm.

“This is a wonderful place to be, it’s a safe haven. We do everything that we can to make it a safe environment. Someone can come in and not have to worry about where they are going to lay their head down or who’s sleeping besides them,” said Shelter Manager Karen Walker.

Walker said to call ahead to be sure the salvation army has availability.

“We would be able to tell a person what they need to bring with them. If we have a bed open. What we do in terms of warrant checks. So that if this isn’t the right place for somebody to be. We can offer them something else,” said Walker.

“We want everybody to be safe. We don’t want there to be any tragic accidents. When we can be a place where you can come in and get warm and feel safe,” said Program Director Dustin Redmond.

The Salvation Army is located on Putnam Avenue. For more information, you can give them a call at (740) 452-8350.
