The United Way Gearing Up for Tax Season

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local non-profit is gearing up for a busy tax season.
The United Way will be hosting free tax clinics for low income community members. The tax clinics will begin sometime next week and wrap up in April when tax season comes to an end.
Abby Dickson, the Tax Clinic Coordinator, said they are still in need of volunteer tax preparers.
“We currently have 14 volunteers and our goal is 20,” Dickson said. “The more volunteers that we have, the more community members we can serve. If people aren’t comfortable being a tax preparer we also have an intake volunteer that collects participants’ information.”
Dickson said this is a great opportunity to help community members get their full tax return back. Katie Grubbs, the Community Impact Coordinator for the United Way, says they have offered this program for a while and she can see the impact it’s made in the community.
“It’s just so nice that we also partner with local organizations and with our volunteers,” Grubbs said. “Without our local partnerships with the library, without our partnerships with those volunteers this program would not exist.”
Grubbs said f you are interested in signing up for the free tax clinics you can call 211 and follow the prompts. This is just to make sure participants are eligible for the tax clinics.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you can call 740-454-6872, and ask for Katie or Abby.
