The Wilds Opens For The 2019 Season

CUMBERLAND, Ohio – Would you have the courage to be an arms length away from animals like giraffes, rhinos, and more? the Wilds, in Cumberland gives you that opportunity.
The Wilds opened Wednesday, for its 2019 season and have close to 30
different animal species from North America, Asia, and Africa roaming
around their 10,000 acre property. Administrative Assistant to the Vice
President, Julie Graham said the Wilds gives a variety of tours allowing
for up close views of the animals.
“We are nearly a 10,000 acre wild life safari park. Home to nearly 30
species of exotic animals. That includes rhinos, giraffe, zebra, camel,
African painted dog, Asiatic wild dog, cheetah, and various other
species,” said Graham.
The Wilds also has five, ten week old dhole pups that they are slowly
introducing to the adult dholes. Director of Animal Management, Dan
Beetem said while this is a safari park for guest to visit, learn and
enjoy the animals, they also do a lot of scientific research as well.
“In my program, I work within the zoo work. So were involved with
conservation breeding programs we do programs with the cheetahs,
southern white rhinos, almost everything we have out here as part of a
bigger organized collaborative breeding program,” added Beetem.
