The ZAAP Gallery Features the Y-Bridge Rug Hookers
Tomorrow is the ‘First Friday Art Walk’ and this month the Y-Bridge Rug Hookers are the featured artist of the month at Z.A.A.P.
Some of the members’ rugs will be on display at the Z.A.A.P gallery for the month of June. Janet Taylor- Lehman said members will also demonstrate the process of rug hooking at the Z.A.A.P gallery Friday from 5 p.m until 8 p.m.
“This means that we get to show some of the beautiful projects that we’ve created and also we’ll be on hand to demonstrate this whole process of rug hooking. So if anybody is interested in learning about how to rug hook, they can come and ask how to join of how to participate in this craft of this art,” said Taylor- Lebman.
Taylor- Lehman said she wants people to leave with the understanding that this is an old art-form that has been kept current and will result in beautiful pieces of art for generations to come.
“None of these pieces will be for sale because once the rug hooker has mad his or her work it’s usually something that they’ve decided to keep or they’re giving to someone else,” said Taylor- Lehman.
You can see Taylor- Lehman’s and other Y-Bridge Hookers artwork for yourself Friday night from 5 until 8 at Z.A.A.P.
