Thelma Bash

Thelma Blanche Bash, [90], of Zanesville, OH, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 12th. Thelma was born on July 11th, 1935 in Elkins, WV, the daughter of the late Emerson Collett and Edna Bartlett Collett. She grew up on the family farm the youngest of 11 children, and graduated from Elkins High School.

Thelma married her husband of 42 years, Les Bash on August 29th, 1958.

Together they built a loving home and family, including 3 children, Jeff (Debbie) Collett, Kelli (Devin) Israel and Heath (Kelly) Bash. She was a proud grandma to 7. Derek Collett, Tiffany (Josh) Denman, Austin (Kirsten) Israel, Landon (Makinzie) Israel, Jensen (Caleb) Zinn, Sydney (Chance) Bash and Hayden Bash. She loved being a great grandma to Luke, Claire & Lucy Denman, and Paxton & Graham Israel. In addition, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Rheta Powell and Rose Hina who became her dear friends over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husband Les, who passed on September 21st, 2000.

Thelma worked several different jobs over the course of her life, including the Mosaic Tile Company and the Times Recorder. She retired from Maysville Local School District in 2000, after working there for many years as an aid and cook/cashier. Thelma and her husband Les were dedicated members of the Amrou Grotto and Cauldron of Zanesville. Thelma enjoyed playing cards all her life, and always enjoyed a good game of Dominoes. She loved watching whatever sporting event was on TV at the time, was an avid OSU fan, and she particularly loved supporting her children/grandchildren in all of their various school and extracurricular activities.

Thelma will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her special friend and previous caregiver Stephanie Kimble, and the entire staff at Brookdale Senior living for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to her. We are eternally grateful to Shrivers Hospice for the compassionate care and support given to both to her and our family.

Friends and family may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 16th, and 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, November 17th prior to funeral services, which will be held at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Monday November 17, 2025 with Geoff Hammon officiating.

In lieu of flowers we ask that if anyone wishes to contribute, they donate to the activities program at Brookdale Senior Living. Many activities at Brookdale brought Thelma joy during her time there, including Bingo,
