Thomas Cosgrave Sr

Thomas E. “Tom” Cosgrave, Sr., 93, of Zanesville, passed away on Monday May 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 23, 1930 in Roseville, a son of the late Noble and Elizabeth (Allen) Cosgrave. He was a member of the Crooksville Church of Atonement and the UMWA Local #1340. He was retired from Peabody Coal Company and he enjoyed his Harleys, country music, Cincinnati Reds, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was known for his great sense of humor and was a man of great faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Rowena. His wonderful children, son Tom Jr. (Judy) Cosgrave, daughter Susan R. (Ed) Christ. Eight grandchildren Wendy (Brent) McCutcheon, Neil (Jocelyn) Cosgrave, Chas (Jennifer) Cosgrave, Angela (Mark) Wuertzer, Joe (Jennifer) Christ, Adam (Sarah) Christ, Annie (Zack) Patterson, and Patrick (Eric) Christ. Seventeen great-grandchildren Matthew Wuertzer, Veronica Wuertzer, Brage McCutcheon, Shepp Cosgrave, Ayce Cosgrave, Kenley Cosgrave, Luke Cosgrave, Greyson and Jackson Hearing, Catherine Patterson, Isaac Patterson, Evelyn Patterson, Bella Christ, Naomi Christ, Daxton Christ, Cadence Christ, and Scarlet Christ. Several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters Audrey McDonnell, Bonnie Bushue, and Suzanne Jones and one brother Warren Cosgrave. He will be forever missed, never forgotten, and loved whole heartedly by his family and many others. Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday May 24, 2024 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 25, 2024 at St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington with Father Todd Lehigh as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Crooksville.
