Tickets selling quickly for Mark Dantonio tribute event
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The community has the chance to attend the tribute of Zanesville High School Alum and current Michigan State University Football coach, Mark Dantonio.
Zanesville High School Alumni Association Committee Co-chair, Ron Bucci said there will be over 25 previous football players who played with or for Dantonio who are attending the event. Do to the excitement of seeing a local graduate who became a well-known university coach, tickets are selling fast.
“We’ve sold over 450 tickets we’ve got about 150 left to go,” Bucci announced. “They’re only $50.00, it’s going to be a great meal, and everyone is going to get a nice souvenir as well. All the money raised from this will go to the Zanesville Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in the name of Justin and Maryan Dantonio and their family.”
According to Bucci all the proceeds raised for this event are benefiting a few students education following high school. The Zanesville High School Alumni Association gives out seven $1,000 scholarships to Zanesville graduating seniors.
“Hopefully someday they’ll look back and say ‘hey, it was an $1,000 scholarship I received from Zanesville High School that made a difference in my life. I want to pay it forward and do the same for them,” Bucci said. “So we’re paying forward and hoping that we can set a precedent for those that will graduate from Zanesville High School in the future to do the same thing.”
This tribute to coach Mark Dantonio is taking place at Zanesville High School Gymnasium on Friday, May 11, 2018 with doors opening at 5:00 P.M. and dinner at 6:30 P.M. Tickets can be purchased at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center, the Winerak Market, and Varsity Title Services.
