Tip Stops Potential Robbery

Zanesville Police Department said a tip allowed them to stop a robbery from happening.
The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Lindbergh Avenue on September 26 around 9am. Police said they received a credible tip about a robbery that was about to occur and the possession of a firearm.
Officers responding stopped a white BMW matching the description of the person involved, that person was identified as Ross Zwelling, of Zanesville.
Officer said Zwelling was found in possession of a firearm and taken into custody.
“It’s good that we were able to apprehend him before he made any more bad judgments,” said Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury. “Ultimately we like to get that weapon and get it off the street and we were able to do so this time.”
Chief Coury said he doesn’t know what led the tip in this case to be called in.
“I’m guessing they were also concerned that somebody’s life may be in danger and that this needed to stop before it ever took place,” said Chief Coury. “Thank goodness somebody was able to call in and notify our officers.”
Zwelling’s charged with having a weapon under disability, possession of criminal tools, conspiracy to aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.
He’s currently being held in the Zanesville City Jail.
