Drugs in Muskingum County

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – According to the Muskingum County Sheriffs Office, crime rates dropped slightly in 2014, but, drugs remain the number on problem. Sheriff Matt Lutz says the drugs that typically keep deputies on the run in this area are cocaine and marijuana as well as an increasing presence of prescription pills, methamphetamine and heroine.

AAA Impaired Driving Survey

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – A recent survey done by the AAA Foundation found that 91% of Americans feel it is not OK to drink and drive, and 92% believe drinking and driving poses a threat to their safety, but, 12% believe that they have driven after drinking in the past year. Only 56% of people feel that driving after using illegal drugs poses a threat to their personal safety and only 28% of people feel those driving after using prescription drugs are a serious threat.

Body of Toddler Found

COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) – Columbus Police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner confirmed Wednesday searchers found what they believe is the body of Cameron Beckford in a creek on the city’s far east side earlier in the day. The boy’s mother, Dainesha Stevens, appeared in court on two felony charges related to the boy’s disappearance and was ordered held on $150,000 bond.
