I-77 Tree Removal
GUERNSEY COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Starting today the Ohio Department of Transportation will begin removing trees on the west side of the roadway on Interstate 77 in Guernsey County. According to ODOT the southbound driving lane will be closed during tree removal.
Southeast Ohio Track Clinic
ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – Middle and high school runners received valuable advice from some of the states best high school and college coaches over the weekend at the first annual Southeast Ohio Track Clinic. Those who attended also had the chance to meet Olympian Mary Wineberg who competed in the 2008 Beijing summer games.
Smokin’s Joe’s Small Engine Repair Racing Mower and Kart Show
ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – Dozens of go-karters gathered at colony square mall over the weekend to show off their karts as part of the Smokin’s Joe’s Small Engine Repair Racing Mower and Kart Show presented by Limestone Valley Mower Speedway, Beartrax Speedway and I-70-77 Speedway. The I-70-77 speedway is opening this year near Old Washington.
Village of New Concord Construction
NEW CONCORD, OHIO (WHIZ) – A big construction project is also planned for the Village of New Concord. The 184-thousand dollar project starts Monday and includes new sidewalks, crosswalks, and curb ramps as well as upgrades to intersections on various village streets.
Fire Burns Betty Ford’s Home
MAUMEE, OHIO (AP) – Fire has destroyed a Maumee home where late First Lady Betty Ford lived in the early 1940s with her first husband. Fire officials tell The Toledo Blade the cause of the Saturday blaze remains under investigation but it’s believed to have begun in the basement. Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire.
