ZANESVILLE, OH – Visit Zanesville is gearing up for their annual Storybook Christmas Fun Run and 5K.

Runners and walkers are invited to lace up their tennis shoes and get into the Christmas Spirit this Saturday at the Visitors Center. The race is set to begin at 5 and end at 6:30PM.

Currently over 200 people have registered for the Fun Run and 5K, but Ashely Cook, the Director of Sales and Marketing with Visit Zanesville, said they’re expecting more signups.

“We already have 200 people signed up but we’re hoping for 300 signups,” Cook said. “Runners and walkers are welcome to come through the paved course and see all the beautiful Christmas lights we have downtown.”

The cost to sign up for the 5K is $30 and it’s $15 for the 1-mile Fun Run. All of the proceeds raised from this event will go to helping expand the light displays and decorations downtown.

Cook said this 5K and Fun Run will close down some roads to one lane.

“The streets will be down to one lane,” Cook said. “We plan on using 5th, Market, 4th, as well as Main Street for the race. Traffic patterns will be changing but just for an hour, but this is just so it’s safe for our runners and walkers.”
