Trail of Treats

Trick N Treat

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Witches, cowboys, and superheroes lined the Collegial Woods Trail at Ohio University Zanesville.

The Muskingum Valley Park District hosted its second annual Trail of Treats, and it was a hit. Executive Director Russell Edgington said they were expecting about 2,500 kids to visit the 40 booths lining the Collegial Woods Trail. He said the event started last year as a program for the Park District.

“And it’s a great way to let the community know that the Park District’s out there providing services that they can enjoy with their families and who doesn’t like Halloween and a chance to dress up in costume,” said Edgington.

Edgington said they have more Fall activities at their other parks as well. He said at the Mission Oaks Garden they currently have their scarecrow competition going on and wants to invite everyone to come to check them out.

“So if you come there are scarecrows that are throughout the garden,” said Edgington. “We have one that’s kind of interesting, it’s actually in the pond in the water garden, so it’s a must see to come out, look at the scarecrows, and pick out your favorite.”

Edgington also wants to give a reminder that there are plenty of park activities that can be done during the winter months, including things like cross-country skiing and hiking.
