Train vs SUV Accident Seriously Injures Warsaw Woman

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a train versus SUV accident. It happened around 5:00 am just off 1700 Basin Road about a quarter-mile off State Route 16 in Cass Township. That Patrol says 67-year-old Mary Darr of Warsaw was traveling east on Basin Road and failed to negotiate a turn and drove her vehicle onto an unimproved area of the railroad tracks where her vehicle was unable to move. Investigators say a westbound train owned by Ohio Central Railroad was unable to stop and struck Darr’s vehicle on the side. Darr sustained critical injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. She is listed in critical condition at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Highway Patrol says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
