Tree Planting Information Event

If the thought of planting a new tree in your yard is a little intimidating, the OSU Extension Master Gardeners are here to help.

Coming up on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 A.M. to Noon, in the corner of the parking lot at the Zanesville Art Museum, the OSU Extension Master Gardeners will be demonstrating how to properly plant trees.

Schroeder Dodds explained how the event will work, “And we are going to invite the public to come in and we will have three trees that we are going to demonstrate how they are planted.”

Dodds said the trees will be Western Red Cedars.

The first 25 people at the event will receive the opportunity to purchase a Western Red Cedar for $10. They will also receive a bag of mulch and a piece of landscaping cloth, along with information on how to plant and care for the tree.

“It’s a beautiful tree, it’s very cone shaped. It is resistant to most diseases and insects. It’s easy to care for. It just a well groomed tree that’s perfect for a yard ” said Dodds of the Western Red Cedars.

To register for this event you can pick up a form from any local gardening store, the library or the art museum. Registration forms should be submitted by April 18.

And remember, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, but, the next best time is now.
