Tri-Valley’s Wade Continues Rise to Sophomore Stardom
DRESDEN, OH – He is coming to an end zone near you. While he is pretty hard to miss, Tri-Valley sophomore running back Leevi Wade is also pretty hard to bring down. This young star is carrying the load with a point to prove for the Scotties.
“You know, I see a lot of people before the season telling me that I was going to be a washout” says Wade. “I’m young, and I just kind of hit the gym. I wanted to come out and I wanted to prove people wrong.”
Wade is proving people wrong with a big time statement. In a week six win over Maysville, he tied a school record with six touchdowns, a mark set by Drew Burke back in the 2021 season. “I got the fourth touchdown, I think, before the half. Everybody was like, ‘beat the record, beat the record!'”
This budding star is not stopping any time soon, while thanking the guys in front of him for creating the space. “I was just coming out to play for my boys. The line did a great job and it’s not all on me. You take the five in the front, I don’t have six touchdowns”
Tri-Valley head coach Cameron West remembers his first impressions of his future starting running back.
“He was a quiet kid. He was ripped up for a freshman last year. He was a big kid and really good in the weight room. He’s just an impressive kid.” West also notes that through the Scotties’ zone concepts on offense, Wade’s vision is what sets him apart.
“Just the way he can set up his runs with his vision and cuts is pretty impressive. It’s just something you can’t teach. It’s just a feel and he has it.”
Leevi’s story doesn’t end there, as he makes sure to reach out to a very important person to him before every game.
Wade continues, “I call my brother, and my brother is deployed right now. He kind of threw a love of the game on me, so I feel like I should throw it back at him.”
No matter how many carries he gets or snaps he takes, Leevi’s drive and passion has, and will never waver. “I love the game, you know. Seven days a week, you know, that is my life. So, when I come out here and get to play with my boys, it makes it ten times better.”
Just over halfway through his sophomore campaign, Wade’s name is sure to be all over the Tri-Valley record books when all is said and done.
