Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Celebrates 170 Years Today

A Local church is celebrating a new milestone today.

The Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church held a special service tonight as it celebrates their 170 years of god’s faithfulness. Church Council President said that in honor of the celebration, the Church set out it’s history dating back to when German immigrants settled in Zanesville and began their worship.

"We’ve grown from that small German, Lutheran Church where German was spoken at all services. In 1903 it was ratified that we could speak English in our Church and we’ve grown to where we have a preschool here, four-star rated preschool, we have lots of outreach, we do lots of service events both here in our community and other communities."

Since the Church has been standing, there have been a few minor renovations.

"In 1957 the sanctuary was gutted and redone, it was done previous to what it looks like today, it was done with some very dark woods which was pretty typical in Lutheran Churches and Churches in general. We brightened it up, the stained glass that’s in the front of the Church was not there, we have a stained glass of Jesus in the garden of Gethseman."

Today there are about 800-1000 members and approximately 300-400 attend service on a typical Sunday.
