CAMBRIDGE, OH – A remarkable act of bravery and humanity was celebrated at the Ohio State Highway Patrol post in Cambridge on January 24th.

Trooper Jonah Carson was presented with the Distinguished Service Medallion by Colonel Charles Jones, the Patrol Superintendent, in recognition of his life-saving efforts during a critical incident in Muskingum County. After a high-speed pursuit on October 24, 2023, Trooper Carson provided immediate and vital first aid which saved a suspect’s life.

“Him stepping forward and doing what he needed to do to save a life is huge. It’s just another way that he put service above self and did what he needed to do ultimately saving a life. We’re very, very happy for that,” Colonel Charles Jones said.

Despite the honor, Trooper Carson remained modest about his actions and humbly stated that receiving the award was “nothing special”, emphasizing that he was merely doing his job and acting according to his training.

“It’s just what we do. There’s nothing special about it, I guess. Any trooper or any officer involved, that’s what they would’ve done as well,” Trooper Jonah Carson said.

This ceremony not only celebrated Trooper Carson’s courageous act but also highlighted the role law enforcement officers play in ensuring public safety and their readiness to respond to emergencies.
