ZANESVILLE, OH – Buckeye fans can score big for the community this weekend while helping stock breakfast tables in Zanesville.

Trulight Ministries is hosting “The Buckeye Breakfast Blitz” on Saturday, June 6th from 9 a.m. to noon. Community members are encouraged to donate breakfast foods like pancake mix, eggs, milk, coffee, cereal, bacon, sausage and more.

“We operate a free breakfast program Monday through Friday. We’re open from 8 a.m. to 9:30, we serve breakfast to anybody, and we serve it for free. Even though it’s free to the public, it’s not free to us. We have to order the food, pay for the food, and have it delivered. There are costs involved for us in order to provide this free service. We’re just reaching out to the community and asking if they can help support by donating some of the food items.” Pastor Ed Swartz said.

The event will support Trulight’s breakfast ministry while also giving families a chance to snap a picture with Brutus the Buckeye.

“It gives people that feel good feeling to know that they’re giving to a good cause, and that that’s helping many people.” Pastor Swartz said. “Anybody who brings in a food donation will get an opportunity to meet Brutus the Buckeye and get some photos with him. We’re just going to be out here having some fun with the community.”

The Buckeye Breakfast Blitz will be held at Trulight Ministries, located at 807 Putnam Avenue in Zanesville. For more information, you can visit their Facebook page.
