Trulight Ministries Making Improvements Thanks to MCCF Grant

The Muskingum County Community Foundation is spreading the love with grants to local organizations that make a real difference.
This fall the MCCF Board of Trustees reviewed grant requests and awarded capital improvement funds to eight deserving local organizations. Among them is Trulight Ministries, a group in Zanesville that’s dedicated to providing essentials to low-income and homeless residents. With this $10,000 grant, Trulight will be able to expand its kitchen, making it easier for volunteers to cook and serve meals to those in need.
“For the past 6 years, we’ve been serving free breaking for the community and we don’t have an adequate kitchen to prepare the food in. We have a serving station. So, we’re cooking food in crock pots, roasters, and plug in skillets. And so when we actually get the kitchen put in here it’ll just make things way easier for the volunteers that come in and prepare and cook and serve the food.” said Pastor Ed Swartz
Trulight Ministries is also gearing up for its holiday fundraiser the “Jingle for Jesus” Walkathon. It’ll take place on Saturday, December 14th at 5 P.M. The walkathon will start at Trulight Ministries and participants will walk to the courthouse and back.
“We’re going to pass out jingle bells, and we are going to walk from here to the courthouse, stop at the courthouse for a moment of prayer, and then we’re going to walk back here to Trulight singing Christmas carols and jingling bells and we’re doing all of that just to raise money for our expenses here.” said Swartz.
