Tuesday Hoops 2.1.11
Zanesville coach Scott Aronhalt summed it up best after the 40-29 win over Cambridge: "I was worried our team may be peaking too early. Turns out that’s not the case." The Blue Devils had to grind out another win over the Bobcats this year, sweeping the season series. Forty points is the lowest point total in a Blue Devil win this year, lower than the 43 they scored against Cambridge in the first meeting. The 11 point victory marking the first double digit win in the series since it was renewed two seasons ago. Zanesville has now won nine straight games, improving to 14-2. Cambridge falls to 8-6.
On the hill, Rosecrans’ journey to 16-0 was nothing simple. After a back and forth first half, the Bishops opened up a 42-32 on West Muskingum in the third quarter. But, the Tornadoes would not quit on their home turf. After two huge free throw’s from Jake Phillis gave Rosecrans a 57-54 lead with 10.4 seconds to play, Jordan Wilson had a decent three-point attempt sail just long at the buzzer. Aaron Parry recorded a season-high 26 points and ten rebounds in the Bishops victory. West Muskingum drops to 9-6 overall.
