Two Charged in Thefts

Two suspects in a series of thefts are in custody at the Zanesville City Jail.

Zanesville Police Captain Tony Coury said that 30-year-old Timothy Young and 30-year-old Kelly Samson face charges.

Captain Coury said on Tuesday morning the pair went to Wal-mart in South Zanesville and stole two Dyson sweepers. They then traveled to Harbor Freight on Maple Avenue taking tools, before taking a television from the Kmart North.

It’s there an off duty State Trooper saw them take the TV and called ZPD with a description of the vehicle.

Police traced the car to a home at 1269 Linden Avenue where Young and Samson were arrested and the stolen items recovered.

ZPD charged Young with two counts of petty theft, he also didn’t have a driver’s license. Young also faces charges from the Muskingum County Sheriff for petty theft and a handicap parking violation.

Samson was charged by ZPD for complicity to petty theft.
