Two Charged in Woodberry Drug Bust

The Muskingum County prosecutor files charges against two men arrested in a Wednesday drug bust.

32-year-old Randall Crane, of Zanesville, and 40-year-old Rick Scurlock Junior, of Rushville are both being charged in the drug bust at 7300 Woodberry Drive. Crane faces four counts including a first degree felony of trafficking in drugs with a juvenile specification and first degree felony of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. While, Scurlock faces two first degree felony counts including trafficking in drugs with a juvenile and forfeiture specifications and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the arrests come after a lengthy investigation.

"We also feel the only way to try and combat this a little bit is to cut off the supply coming in," said Sheriff Lutz. "This is definitely a case where this individual, Mr. Scurlock, wasn’t just supplying a heavy load to our county but surrounding counties as well."

Detectives were able to seize marijuana, multiple pill bottles from Florida and a large amount of prescription pills including 122, 30 mg of Oxycodone pills. Going out of state for pills is becoming a more popular way of getting drugs.

"They are in such high demand now," said Lutz. "They’ll pay 2,4,6 dollars a pill down there and sell them for 20,30 a pill here. The demand is far outweighing the supply."

Sheriff Lutz said charges against others involved in the case are pending.
