ZANESVILLE, Ohio–Zanesville Police said two people have been arrested Friday following a vehicle pursuit that spanned two counties.

Captain Scott Comstock said around 12:00 p.m. Friday officers attempted to pull over a vehicle in the Pershing Road area that matched the description of a vehicle that had been stolen earlier in the day.

He said the car took off out of the city limits and went across State Route 555 and then proceeded to head south on State Route 60.

Comstock said when officers reached Duncan Falls that’s when a Muskingum County Sheriff’s deputy joined the pursuit.

He said the vehicle continued into Morgan County where it crashed into the Muskingum River in McConnelsville.

He said two occupants in the vehicle were arrested with assistance from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. Both are being held in the Zanesville City Jail pending formal charges.
