Two residents of the Village of New Lexington are in the hospital following an early Wednesday morning house fire.

The New Lexington Fire Department said the fire took place just before 3 A.M. at 115 East Broadway.

When fire crews arrived they found a two story house with heavy fire. Two adult victims were pulled from the fire by a third resident of the home. The two were transported to Genesis in Somerset and then transferred to the OSU Burn Center.

The third resident was uninjured.

New Lexington Assistant Fire Chief Chris Spencer said the frigid temperatures and wind conditions played a huge role in fire suppression activities. Multiple crews were called to the scene to assist.

The fire is under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office.
