Two teens injured in ATV accident

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Police are investigating an ATV crash that sent two children to the hospital Monday morning.

Sergeant Jeffrey Jirles of the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, said that at 10:45 a.m., troopers responded to S.R. 93 in Avondale and discovered two juveniles seriously injured.

The teens were operating an ATV that reportedly struck the rear of a car. The 13 and 14-year-old on the ATV were ejected from the vehicle.

The male 13-year-old was taken to Genesis and later flown to Children’s Hospital in Columbus. The 14-year-old female was also transported to Genesis Hospital.

Neither of the juveniles were wearing any safety equipment. The driver of the car was not injured.

This incident remains under investigation.
