Two Transported After Crash On State Route 83
A two car accident temporarily shut down State Route 83 South near New Concord Monday evening.
The call for the accident came around 6:30 p.m. According to Trooper Brian Neff of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 50 year old Richard Hall of Byesville, Ohio was southbound on State Route 83 in a white 2013 Ford Tarus. Robert Wilheim was northbound on State route 83 in a purple Honda Minivan when he attempted to make a left-hand turn into the Banana Peel Ice Cream Shop, turning in front of Hall. Hall applied the brakes but was unable to avoid the crash. Two female passengers in the minivan were transported with non life threatening injuries to Genesis Hospital. Wilheim was cited with failure to yield. Neff stresses to the community to take extra driving caution when traveling past this section of State Route 83. There are two entrances at this intersection and a blind hill. Neff explained too many times, individuals make an attempt to turn too early before the hillcrest and are unaware of other cars that may be coming. The accident remains under investigation.
