ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Two World War Two grenades were found in a home in New Lexington.

A family was cleaning out the house, when they found two pineapple grenades in the basement. New Lexington Assistant Fire Chief Rob Stalling said the grenades were approximately 73 years old. The New Lexington Fire Department and the Franklin Bomb Squad removed the grenades from 391 North Avenue in New Lexington. One of the grenades was still live, but the safety pin was still in place.

“We took the two hand grenades to the New Lexington gun range,” said Stalling. “They were detonated safely.”

There were no injuries. The 300-meter safe clearance area, was lifted after the bomb squad removed the grenades from the house.
