U.S. Army Specialist Surprises His Brother
A student at Mid-East Career and Technology Center got a surprise visit this afternoon. Wes Harvey, who was in his social studies class at the time, was surprised by his older brother, Roel Martinez who just returned home after a nine month deployment in Afghanistan. Martinez says the last time he talked to his brother, he told him he would be home within 20 days, but didn’t know exactly when he would come home. "So, I was thinking he’ll still be in school, let’s go surprise him. I called Scott, the Assistant Director, he was like ‘yeah that would be a great idea, we can make this a big thing’ and here I am." Martinez and Harvey were able to catch up for a few minutes before Harvey had to return to class. Martinez says he’ll be home for about 30 days before returning to Fort Bragg. "We’re going back to Fort Bragg, that’s where I’m stationed at in North Carolina, and from there my ETS date is in October, I get out of the army in October. So, depending on how that’s gonna work out and depending on if we’re scheduled another deployment in 2016, really my next 10 months is undetermined." Martinez says he’s looking forward to relaxing during his time at home.
