U.S. Representative Jim Renacci makes campaign stop in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A third Republican candidate for governor makes a stop in Zanesville today hoping to set himself apart from his opponents.
U.S. Representative Jim Renacci says the key difference between him and the other candidates is that he is a businessman while they are career politicians. He says that his background in business gives him a different viewpoint of where the focus needs to be.
“Too many times career politicians, many politicians, just go in and they worry about their next election or their next position. I mean in business you worry about the next generation and that’s what I’m a big believer in.”
Renacci says that as a politician his interests lies in the future and bringing change. One of his goals is to bring jobs back to the state, especially to small cities such as Zanesville. Renacci talked about the surplus of state jobs in Columbus and the importance of transferring some of those jobs to other areas.
“We have to start looking at the businesses in Zanesville. I don’t care about the businesses in Indiana. I don’t care about the businesses in California. I care about the businesses here. And as a business person I want to make the businesses here in Zanesville stronger. That’s the key because if they’re stronger they’ll employ more people and the people in Zanesville will get more…better jobs at a higher pay.”
Renacci says his background in different economic classes also helps him view politics in a different light. Renacci grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania in a blue collar family. At 24 years old he moved to Ohio and started his first business and climbed to the middle class. Soon he opened more businesses employing more than 3,000 people. Renacci says Ohio gave him the chance to reach the American Dream and he believes he can help others reach it as well.
“I want the people of Zanesville know that there is a difference. You only have two choices in this next election: you have the career politicians and you have the business outsider. And if they get to know me they’re gonna find that I’m gonna make sure that Zanesville and Ohio become first in this country. Not in opioid overdose and addiction, but in jobs and the best place to go for school, and the best place to raise a family.”
Representative Renacci is running against Republicans Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor, Secretary of State John Husted, and Attorney General Mike DeWine.
