Unemployment figures falling
There are more people with jobs now than just a month ago.
The unemployment numbers across Muskingum County continue to fall, but that doesn’t mean people without a job should worry. Supervisor of OhioMeansJobs, Julie Metzger, said the job outlook is strong.
“The job market has been growing and moving upwardly for the past several months, so we have had a lot of employers come through and a lot of employers of course reporting hires,” Metzger said. “With that being said though their are still employers out that are looking for job seekers.”
OhioMeansJobs helps potential employees get in contact with employers. Metzger said companies continue to hire people as the job market is booming. She believes that’s in large part to the oil and gas industries in the region.
“I think the unemployment rate keeps going down because employers are hiring,” Metzger said. “We have had a lot of hires recently and throughout the summer months with the gas and oil.”
Metzger added that people without jobs should start getting their resumes prepared and spend time sharpening their interview skills because there are going to be jobs opening up as Spring nears.
