ZANESVILLE, Ohio-  The third annual dodgeball tournament at the Muskingum Rec Center will have people competing in the ‘Five D’s’ of dodgeball. They are dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

Each year the United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties teams up with the Rec Center to host the tournament. Each team consists of six to eight players. Becky Weir, the Event Manager at the Rec Center said two of the players can serve as retrievers in the out of bounds lanes or sub in and out as needed.

“It’s double elimination. So all teams will play at least two games, if not more. If they keep winning they play more. We actually have a toilet bowl category and the winner will receive the gold toilet brushes in that category.”

There is a $50 minimum donation to play in the tournament and teams are encouraged to do additional fundraising. Weir said all of the proceeds will go to the United Way of MPM.

“It will just go towards any United Way programs to help with that. And you know they have their annual campaign of giving too that they put all of their money towards. Any of the partners and helping all of the programs for United Way.”

Weir said 20 teams played last year and they are hoping for more this year. Registration ends tomorrow. The tournament will be this Thursday at 5:30 pm. Weir said all teams should arrive by 5:00 p.m.
