Upcoming Events on the Lorena

All of the heavy rain this season caused local river levels to rise, resulting in problems for area businesses.

The Lorena Sternwheeler was one most-affected by the high water levels, but Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Vice-president, Kelly Ashby, said business is now functioning as normal.

“The Lorena Sternwheeler is definitely seasonal, and it is very much weather-permitting, and so we did have a couple of weeks of high water due to the rain, but the Lorena is right back on track and offering public rides, lunch cruises, dinner cruises, twilight cruises, so right back on track, it’s typical,” Ashby said.

The chamber is inviting the public to come aboard the Sternwheeler for the annual Civil War Reenactment and Encampment Adventure. Ashby said it’s great entertainment for the entire family.

“The past two years tickets have sold out, so it has been a fantastic reaction to the Civil War Reenactment, those who purchase tickets just absolutely have enjoyed the experience, and the Civil War reenactors are fabulous, we have more reenactors this year than we’ve ever had before,” Ashby said.

There will be one cruise offered on August 14, and four on August 15. Tickets are $15 per person and reservations are required. For more information on the event, visit visitzanesville.com
