UPDATE: Muddy Boot Fire

A fire at the Muddy Boot Bar & Drive Thru broke out around 4 A.M., shutting down US 22 for several hours.

According to South Zanesville Fire Chief Norm Mansfiled approximately six minutes after receiving the call fire crews arrived on the scene.

“We got called here about 4 A.M. We arrived here on the scene, had heavy smoke coming out of the building, forced entry. Had fire in the basement and in the attic” said Mansfield.

Mansfield explained that there are not any fire hydrants in the area, so a tanker shuttle had to be set up to supply water to the blaze. The Newton Township Fire Department, Roseville Fire Department, Harrison Fire Department, Wayne Township Fire Department, Perry Fire Department, Falls Toweship Fire Department, Licking Topwnship Fire Departmentand and the Zanesville Fire Department all assisted the South Zanesville Fire Department during the two and a half hours it took to get the fire under control. No injuries were sustained in the fire, and at this time a cause has not been determined.

“The fire was in the basement, it was in the attic so we really don’t know yet. We’ve called the State Fire Marshal in to help us in the investigation” explained Mansfield.

Due to the cold weather and ice on the roads the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted in the salting and shutting down of Maysville Pike. The road was back open with traffic flowing around 8 o’clock.
