UPDATE: Stabbing at Muskingum County Fairgrounds
Zanesville Police Chief Kenneth Miller said one person is in the hospital after a stabbing incident at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds Monday afternoon.
Miller said what began as a fight escalated. One person was stabbed and another received non-life threatening injuries. The Chief said the suspect in the stabbing ran toward lindbergh avenue and was pursued by a witness. Captain Tony Coury said the suspect was caught at a residence on Lindbergh Ave.
There were five people present during the altercation, and all are cooperating in the investigation. Miller said the suspect was taken to the police station for treatment of his minor assault injuries and questioning. The stabbing victim was transported to Genesis Hospital for what are believed to be serious injuries. He underwent surgery late that afternoon.
Miller said that the investigation is still on-going as they try to determine how and why the altercation started as well as each person’s involvement.
