UPDATE: Washington Township Fire Department

Sunday we informed you of the insurance issue for the Washington Township Fire Department after an individual confessed to the embezzlement of what Sheriff Matt Lutz says was a large sum of money.

After organizing all utilities to determine where the stolen money had been taken from, it was found that insurance had not been paid and the department was not currently covered. Monday, attorney for the Washington Township Fire Department, Susan McDonald says the individual who confessed to the embezzlement has been removed from every position of power and authority at the department. She added that they are determined to recover every single penny taken. McDonald says that they will not drop the ball on this issue.

The department is currently working with its insurance provider to correct the problem in the next few days. In the mean time neighboring fire departments will cover all fire runs in Washington Township and Washington Township First Responders will not respond with Community Ambulance.
