US Marine Gets A Heart-Warming Welcome Home
One Zanesville family is welcoming a fighter home this holiday season.
US Marine Point Man Michael Kempker has been in Afghanistan since May of this year serving our country in the First Reconnaissance Battalion. He is a proud parent of 2-year-old Gavin Kempker and says he does it all for him.
"For gavin my son, I want him to look back when he’s older and be proud that his dad served so if that’s something that he chooses to do he has something to base it off of," says Kempker.
Kempker says serving overseas has been the best experience of his life and is very thankful for the experiences he has had and will endeavor. This holiday season though, he wants to make sure no one is forgotten.
"All the troops that are over there right now regardless of what branch they are in; every little thing that people can do for them while they are over there, it helps. "
Kempker will be returning to his training base at Camp Pendleton in Southern California after the new year and could be re-deployed back to Afghanistan.
