Using Exercise Machines

Exercise equipment in gyms can be intimidating, especially if you don’t know how to use the machines properly and they could even be keeping you from wanting to go to the gym.

There are different machines meant for those who have not worked out in a while. The treadmill is a good example of something to use if you just want to walk. Fieldhouse owner Mick Amicone suggests using an eliptical. This machine is a lot like walking and does not have to be programmed. A bike is also a good cardio starting point with people of all ages using these kinds of machines.

"If  you just want to start out there is a piece of commercial or home equipment that can fit your needs" said Mick Amicone.

Machine weights with a pedal are the easiest and safest to use. They allow for the machine to come to you instead of you having to reach behind and grab the handles. This way you will not pull a muscle.

"Start slow find something that doesn’t look so complicated and just as we always say just be patient with yourself " said Amicone.

Having an exercise bike or an eliptical at home can also be an effective way to begin working out before hitting the gym.

Speaking of exercise…how does getting paid to lose weight sound? Probably pretty good and  it’s not too late to join the best loser competition sponsored by the fieldhouse.

This year the winner not only will hold the muskingum county’s best loser title, he or she will win five thousand dollars in prizes. You can join as a group, individual or couple. those joining the competition this year are different than those in the past.

"it’s a real unique cross section of folks this year – i have never seen so many families" said Amicone.

In the end it is the percent of body fat you lose that matters. Once you register you will be weighed and have ninety days to lose the weight. you have until february first to register
