USPS worker dies in Athens Co. crash

ATHENS, Ohio- A postal worker is dead after a one-vehicle crash Saturday morning.

The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said 58-year-old William McManis from Millfield, Ohio was travelling eastbound at 11:50 a.m on Angell Road in a United States Postal Service vehicle when he crashed.

The Patrol said McManis failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the roadway striking a ditch and a utility pole. He was not wearing a safety belt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Athens County Coroner.

Lodi Township Fire Department and Athens E.M.S assisted with the incident.
