ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A more than 100-year-old tradition continued today with the Veterans Day Parade. The tradition started to commemorate the efforts American soldiers made to end the Great World War. A variety of ages came to support, honoring the ones who protect us all.
“It’s important to teach our kids where everything came from. All what our military has done for our country and continues to do,” said event attendee, Florence Sidwell.
There was a little bit of everything to enjoy at the parade. There were huge floats to small cars. As well as local bands, dance teams, and cheer groups. All while providing the message to the younger generation, that it is important to celebrate the ones who fight for freedom.”
“Well, I’m honored to be a veteran. I served my time, and I’m glad everybody’s here today. And I’m glad everybody’s doing it all over the world. And you’re very good. And like I say, it’s a great honor. And to be here. And Zanesville I’ve lived here for about 30 years, and it’s an honor,” said Steven Winland, an Army veteran.
The Veterans Day parade plans to continue the tradition year after year.
