Veterans Day Parade Details

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Veterans Day is a 100-year-old-plus tradition that commemorates the efforts American soldiers made to end the Great World War.
Once again, despite all the construction, the City of Zanesville will celebrate the occasion with a downtown parade and Event Chairman Brent Mirgon says there’s still time for people to enter.
“So the Veterans Day parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th,” Mirgon said. “We’re looking for some… still looking for entries. That’s the biggest thing that we’re trying to get out and get the word out that we are still accepting entries. That entry deadline is going to close around the 31st or November 1st. Just to give us enough time to kind of get everything organized. But if you’re interested in participating, would love to have you. The best way to do that, to sign up is at the visitzanesville.com website.”
Mirgon explained that visitzanesville.com has a Veterans Day Parade banner that goes across the top and everyone is encouraged to click. Registrants are required to answer about five questions before being accepted. Participants will need to arrive at the Secrest Auditorium around 9 a.m. on the 8th to be placed in the lineup, before the event’s 11 a.m. scheduled start.
“We’ll give you your parade number and we’ll get you over to an area that stages you so that you can get you on the route in a timely manner,” Mirgon said. “So it begins right there basically at the corner of Shinnick and Fourth Street and it will go up to Fifth and it will turn south on Fifth Street down to Main Street. And then once you make that turn down Main Street, it’ll basically end by turning down Third Street. So the parade will kind of come back toward Secrest.”
Mirgon revealed that the courthouse will have a P.A. System, which chronicles the entries as they pass by and suggests that might be the best vantage point for spectators.
