Village of Dresden Celebrates 200 Years

DRESDEN, Ohio – The Village of Dresden is celebrating their bicentennial year once a month and this months event is taking people back to the 1940’s

 

The Dresden Bicentennial Committee is sponsoring a 1940’s Swing Dance Party on September 9, 2017 at The Inn At Dresden. According to Mayor David Mathew the Schubach Big Band with vocalist Misty Connors

“Social Dance Lessons start at 7:00 P.M. and then the band performs until 11:00 P.M,” Mathew said. “It looks to be a great event it will be very interesting and they play all kinds of music and there’s big band music, but they do other things too. It’s a great band to listen to.”

According to Mathew last months bicentennial event, the Mellon Festival went well with people who currently live in Dresden and those who once lived in Dresden and have since moved away.

“So it was fun to see, I ran into a lot of people, got to talk to some old friends and beat around some old memories,” Mathew said. “That’s part of what it’s about. We have a community that’s pretty proud of what we’ve been through and what we do. So it’s nice to celebrate it.”
