Village Of New Concord Meets With County Commissioners

The Muskingum County Commissioners held a meeting with the Village of New Concord Thursday afternoon.

They discussed development at the intersection of 83 and I-70. We got the chance to talk to Greg Adams, mayor of the Village of New Concord who told us a little bit more about what they are planning on doing.

“We’ve had a number of discussions with a couple of developers and we’re working with the commissioners to understand how or if we might partner with them on some of the water and sewer infrastructure that is needed by some of the developers that we have and maybe potentially some of the future development that might occur in the future.”

Adams says they dont have concrete ideas yet but there is potential to develop a few different sites in New Concord. Adams says when the sites are ready to develop they want to have the infrastructure in place to do so. We also spoke to Charlotte Colley, Village Administrator who told us they are looking into the possibility of loans for support.

“That is something that we’ll be looking into as far as grants, loans and things like that. We’re currently going through the process of soliciting qualifications from engineering firms that help us do some of these studies and looking into the designs and feasibility of projects that we want to do so they will likely be helping us out with the identification of funding sources and applications and things like that.”

Colley told us they are excited about the future and what it hold for the village and surrounding areas.
