Violet V. Scott, age 97 of Cambridge passed away early on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the Beckett House in New Concord. She was born in Hopewell, Virginia on September 17, 1928, a daughter of the late Elmer Hott and Helen (Sedora) Hott.
Mrs. Scott was a 1947 graduate of Cambridge High School. She grew up in the city but quickly learned the farm life when she married R. Vernon Scott on September 16, 1950.
Her family had a dairy farm and she had been a part of driving a milk truck, delivering milk to over 125 families, 6 days a week. Violet had also been in real estate, worked as a book keeper, was a township clerk and had worked in the Guernsey County Extension Office. She had been a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church since she was 22. Along with working, she also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Garden Club. Violet decided to get her associates degree from Ohio University at age 65 and was very proud of that.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband R. Vernon Scott; a brother James Hott; and a son Martin D. Scott.
Surviving are: children, Deborah Scott, Mark (Valerie) Scott, Susan (Paul) Jamiel, Rebecca Scott, Paul (Rhonda) Scott and Jon (Teresa) Scott;
11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and two great great grandsons.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 4pm to 6pm. The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2027 at 11 am with visitation starting at 10am at Christ Our Light Parish. Burial will take place in Zion at a later date.
