Virginia “Ginny” Gutridge

Virginia “Ginny” Rose Gutridge, 80, of Nashport, died 12:15 PM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, surrounded by her family, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. She was born Saturday, October 16, 1943, in Zanesville, the daughter of Herman T. Grotegeer and Virginia R. (Bollinger) Grotegeer. She married Carl E. Gutridge on Saturday, July 15, 1967, and was a 1961 Graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School.
Ginny was a lifelong dedicated member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic minister, sang in the choir and was a volunteer in the schools. She was a secretary in the X-Ray Department at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, retiring following many years of service. She enjoyed ceramics; was a fantastic cook, enjoyed genealogy and loved to watch the birds. Ginny was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Ginny is survived by two sons, Mike (Christine) Gutridge of Lewis Center and Craig (Wendy) Gutridge of Broadview Heights; five grandchildren, Kayla, Abigail, Jessica, Kyle and Katherine Gutridge; two sisters, Kay Dozer and Rita (Bob) Wion, and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Grotegeer, all of Zanesville and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by one brother, Robert “Nick” Grotegeer.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 955 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Martin J. Ralko as celebrant. Ginny will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Table or St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Ginny’s memory.
