Virus Kills 25 Cats at Shelter

The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County lost some its cats to a virus. Executive Director Jody Murray says this past December 10th around 25 cats came down with Panleukopenia virus and died. It’s highly contagious and causes vomiting and diarrhea. Murray says it’s not that uncommon at shelters that accept strays. He says as a result, no adoptions were permitted until the virus was contained, plus an extra 14 days. The all-clear was announced just after the first of this year. Murray says now all their cats are healthy and ready for adoption.
