Volunteers Stuff the Bus to Help Area Kids
With school right around the corner, the cost of all of those back-to-school needs can be overwhelming.
Eastside Community Ministry is helping families all across Muskingum county combat those high costs with its annual "Tools for Schools" drive. Hundreds of shoppers flooded the Maple Avenue Wal-Mart Saturday to donate supplies to "Stuff the Bus."
"It’s been successful every year, we’ve been doing this for several years and it’s been a successful every year, regardless of the weather, people are always donating, we just had somebody stop by here just a few minutes ago and donate about eight full backpacks, didn’t want to leave their name, didn’t want to be recognized, that’s Zanesville," said Rose Kessing, of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Miss Ohio Princess, Mackenzie Welch, came out to lend a helping hand. She said it’s a great feeling to be able to give back to her community in this way.
"I’m excited to fill the bus so schools can have more supplies for kids to come," Welch said.
If you missed the chance to donate today, Eastside Community Ministry is still accepting both supply and monetary donations through the beginning of August.
