Voter Registration Ends Monday
The May 5th primary is just under a month away, and Monday is the deadline to register to vote.
Board of elections across the state are open until 9 p.m… So more people can get registered to vote. But Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections, Chris Hammil, said not many people registered Monday.
“We’re basically not seeing a large volume of people coming in,” Hammil said. “People typically do not vote in a primary and it doesn’t make sense because everything that’s in the local races does affect what happens to you.”
While registration ends Monday early voting begins in Tuesday. Hammil explains what will happen for early voting.
“We do have early voting that starts tomorrow,” Hammil said. “We will have extended hours, so we will be open until 5:00 p.m. So our office opens at 8:00 and we’ll be open until 5:00 p.m. So if you would like to come in and vote early you may do so in our office.”
Starting Tuesday, Ohioans who are registered to vote in a different part of the state can also visit the board of elections to change their address and vote at the same time.
