Walk and Roll for EDS

South Zanesville, OH– May is Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Awareness Month, also known as EDS.
It’s an inherited disease that affects skin, joints, and blood vessels, making joints loose and skin irritably stretchy. Someone with this disease may deal with these issues constantly, even though it wouldn’t be visible to most. The illness is passed from parent to child. Chole Hittle suffers from EDS, along with her mother and sister.
“If you would look at me right now, you probably wouldn’t think that I’m disabled. And I think it’s very important because you have to learn to not judge a book by its cover. Just because it’s not visible, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist,” said Chloe Hittle.
E.D.S is an extremely rare disorder, only 1 in every 10,000 people will be diagnosed with it. Hittle’s goal is to make people more aware and bring attention and support to those suffering through a walk and roll event to raise funds for EDS awareness.
“Because I had felt like I had nobody. And I realized that I didn’t want my sister to go through life to feel like she had nobody to reach out to. To connect to, ask for help, or know what it’s like. We don’t have anything like that in Zanesville. If I don’t have anything like that, I’ll be the one to start that. So, when she’s my age, she won’t feel like I didn’t have anybody to look up to that can help me through this,” said Hittle.
The walk will take place at the Maysville Athletic Complex on May 31st from 10 am until 2 pm.
