Walk with a Buckeye Doc

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Muskingum County is reaching out to the public by offering a simple service that allows area residents to talk with a doctor while getting their steps in.

Club President Terry Kopchak talked about the upcoming event and detailed what attendees can expect.

“We’re having an event on Saturday, May 17th, at the Colony Square Mall called Walk with a Buckeye Doc, ” Kopchak said. “It’s a community health and wellness event and it’s free. We’re inviting families to come on out and join us. Registration at 9:30 in the morning in the food court and Dr. Michael Zimmer will be leading the group in the walk around 10 a.m.”

Attendees can participate in the walk at their own free will but Kopchak anticipates the walk will take one lap inside the mall. Participants will receive a bottle of water along with a Go Bucks wristband in addition to being entered into a door prize drawing.

“We came up with this idea because Genesis used to have a Walk with a Doc program,” Kopchak said. “And we said well why don’t we do a walk with just a doctor who graduated from Ohio State. And so Dr. Zimmer is now retired, he was a general practitioner, he was my family doctor for over 35 years and he’s also a member of our club and participates in a lot of our club events.”

Kopchak said the event is free and that the event along with his organization are not limited to OSU alumni. For more information about the Walk with a Buckeye Doc event as well as the OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County, you can visit them online.
